How lucky we were to acquire this Collection of Limited Edition John Wayne Pencil Sketch Prints! This is a collector's dream! These original graphite pencil sketches were created by talented artist Ron Adair. Each of the five detailed sketches depicts a character portrayed by actor John Wayne in one of his award winning movies. The handsome prints are each 7-3/4" in width by 9-1/2" in length; however, when in the silver frame, they are 9-1/2" in width by 11-1/2" in length.</p>
<p>
Limited edition print #225/500 is a portrait of Marshall Reuben J. 'Rooster' Cogburn with his trustee fire arms from the 1969 classic film “True Grit”. Print #295/500 depicts a scene from the same movie where a determined Marshall Reuben J. 'Rooster' Cogburn carries Mattie Ross to find help after she is bitten by a rattlesnake. Print #226/500 is a sketch of Colonel Mike Kirby in tactical gear from the 1968 action movie “The Green Berets”. There is the stoic face of Colonel Davy Crocket from the 1960 frontier film “The Alamo” with the limited edition print #218/500. And last, but not least, is print #299/500 with a close up of Capt. Nathan Cutting Brittles from “She Wore a Yellow Ribbon” in 1949 and the full figure of Sheriff John T. Chance in the 1959 western “Rio Bravo”. The bottom of each print is labeled with "The Duke". Signed in script by the artist "R. Adair" and numbered.</p>
<p>
On May 26, 1907, John Wayne's parents welcomed him into this world. His birth name was Marion Robert Morrison, and he never legally changed it to John Wayne. His nickname "Duke" came from the family dog. There were actually 37 films that he starred in where the character had the name "John" and 6 films in which his character's name was "Duke".
</p><p>
After Adair drew the characters from John Wayne's movies, he sent illustrated copies to Mr. Wayne. He was very pleased and impressed. He responded with a letter on his own "John Wayne" letterhead and with his signature. A copy of this letter has been attached to the back of each frame.

These Sterling Silver Gecko Lizard French Hook Drop Earrings are totally delightful! The symbolic traditional Native American figure of a gecko was skillfully hand cut from <em>Sterling Silver</em>. Including the French hook, these silver French hook <em>drop earrings</em> are 1-5/8" long. This handcrafted jewelry is non-Indian made and the artist is not known. Beautify your ears with these adorable, whimsical creatures!</p>
<p>
According to the Native American Zuni Pueblo Tribe, the Gecko was a sign of good luck and fortune. The symbol for the Gecko symbol has been found on early cave and rock petroglyphs, designs woven into baskets, carved fetishes, or personal charms, and on pottery. The southwest Zuni Indian people originated from a tribe that once lived in the same area some 1,000 years prior to the settling of Europeans in North America. They are an isolated culture that is known for their sculpture, utilitarian pottery, and artwork.

<p>You won't believe this is made of Sterling Silver but it is & it is an astonishing work of <em>Native American art</em>! This prize winning, highly collectible sculpture was created by Navajo Silversmith, Alvin Vandever when he was in his mid to late 20's, somewhere around 1995. With great care & attention, Alvin has created a Pueblo house that is unsurpassed in it its detail to the original. From the wood roof supports, Pueblo pottery & precisely detailed ladders, this magnificent structure doesn't miss a thing, including the hand stamped adobe brick work which surrounds the house. Equally compelling are the three small Mudheads that are trying to keep the Eagle Dancer from soaring to touch the heavens with their hand twisted Sterling wire rope! This Dancing Eagle Kachina doll is unmatched in Alvin's attention to detail. From every angle, there is something to see, from the fine lines of the feather work to the carving of his exquisite Eagle headdress & squash blossom necklace, the Eagle Kachina is a masterpiece in <em>Sterling Silver</em>. From the hand scratched plate of Sterling that represents desert sand to the small Sterling bells on his knees & hand stamped fur trim down his back, this handmade Sterling Silver sculpture is a thing of beauty! This is a highly collectible work of art that will grow in value over time. This Sterling Silver Native American sculpture is about 11-1/2" tall (including the base) and sits on a 12" square base. The base features an engraved nameplate with the sculpture's name, Kwau Koyemsi Kiva by: Alvin Vandever. The full sculpture includes a custom made plexi box that is removable. <p>
Chief Waterflower was a little known Native American artist and medicine man who got peoples attention for his practice of drawing upside down. His workplace was often a table at the local bar in South Dakota. He would often sketch in a drawing tablet but a napkin or place mat could fill in when the tablet was unavailable. He would amaze people by drawing upside down right in front of them while passing along a few lessons in drawing or in living. He was known to give the drawings away to those who showed interest. This particular work, done on a place mat type paper, is special because it has the handwritten label by Chief Waterflower himself stating: "This was done upside down. I'm a great grandson of the great Nez Perce's Indian warrior Chief Joseph 1840-1924". It is signed in reverse, Chief Waterflower, 12-8-1980 and signed again in the lower left hand corner Waterflower, 12-8-1980. It features the great Chief Joseph mounted on his horse holding a spear. What a unique and humble piece of Native American history and artistry to add it to your collection. The artwork itself measures 10" by 10" and was professionally framed sometime in the 1980's in a 22" by 26" frame.
</p><p>
Born in 1840, Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce is one of the most well known Native American Chiefs in American History. Known as a "peacemaker", Chief Joseph was pushed to his limits when the United States government broke treaties he worked so hard to negotiate. This painting sketch was hand sketched in 1980 by the great grandson of Chief Joseph, known to many as Chief Waterflower. The musician Jimmy Baker cites Waterflower as his medicine chief and friend during the mid 1970's. Another encounter with Waterflower is told by a woman from South Dakota. To read it click here. It is not known how old Chief Waterflower was or if he is still alive, but his story now lives on with this rare work of true Indian art.

Original Navajo painting from the heart of the Indian Nation. The artist, J.C. Black, is known for his portrayal of traditional Navajo subjects with amazing light and color. With their tepee set up and campfire burning, two Navajo men play a little flute as the sun sets behind the forest. The fiery sunset makes the forest appear to be on fire and the clouds in the sky take the role of smoke plumes. In the clouds, the spirit of the buffalo watches over the two campers. Here the mystery and power of Navajo life is presented with intense splendor. This high quality Giclée is printed on canvas. The original acrylic painting was professionally reproduced with J.C. Black's permission. This print precisely captures every brush stroke and Black's exceptional use of color. It comes from a limited edition of 100 and each is numbered. Painted by Navajo artist J.C. black. The canvas print is 24" by 36" and is unframed.

Canyon de Chelly provides the backdrop for a procession of Navajo Yei Bi Chei dancers. The canyon, known for its cliff dwellings, is rendered in photo like detail. The leaves of the cottonwoods are golden with the approach of fall and frame the sun soaked cliffs beautifully. Black's subjects are often wearing unique traditional jewelry and accessories. The Yei Bi Chei Dancers are wearing Turquoise bead necklaces, Silver cuff bracelets and Turquoise Concho Belts. One of the dancers is dressed with a red fox fur wrap. The whole painting glows with color and the dancers really come to life. The artist, J.C. Black, is known for his portrayal of traditional Navajo subjects with amazing light and color.
