This magnificent Mata Ortiz Pot is from the Casas Grandes Valley. The painting on this Polychrome Dazzler Pot is of superior quality and done entirely by hand with machine like accuracy. An array of meticulously even lines come together to create the mesmerizing pattern. It's amazing how they can sit down and hand paint these pots with such precision without any pre-planning or measuring tools. The smooth stone polished surface conceals the fact that this pot was hand coiled from natural clay without a potter's wheel. This is not a paint by numbers pot! , an addition to your collection to be proud of. It is entirely hand made and signed on the bottom by the Mata Ortiz artist Arturo Ledezma. This Dazzler Pot stands ~7" tall, ~6" wide, with a ~18-1/2" circumference, and a ~2-1/4" opening at the top.

A recipe of ground minerals or roots created the black pigment that was applied to the fired clay bowl pottery. This Mata Ortiz collectible work of art has a ~12-1/2" inch circumference. The natural clay pot stands ~5" inches tall and approximately 9" inches in width. Bety R Guillen's signature is etched on the base of this Hand Coiled Mata Ortiz Pot.

The traditional polychrome pattern features a geometric deign that is completely hand painted and was created in 1990 by Michael Hawley. The talented Scottsdale, Arizona ceramic artist and historian, Michael Hawley has for years specialized in making modern-day ceramics inspired by techniques, methods and designs of ancient Hopi and other Southwestern Native peoples. Only hand-ground clay dug on Antelope Mesa on the Hopi Reservation was used to coil, shape, polish, paint and coal fire this pot in a firing pit the artist constructed himself. All of his pigments were made by hand from minerals and plants indigenous to the Hopi Mesas and each of his painted design is original and within the Sikyatki design tradition. This absolutely beautiful hand coiled pot is in very good condition with minor surface flaws on the lower outer bowl. This vibrant, low profile, curled rim pot is signed with the artists hallmark and date. This Chakoptewa Polychrome Pottery measures about 3-1/2" tall, about 9-1/2" around and has an opening of 8-5/8".

It has been dressed with a genuine Turquoise nugget and some genuine feathers for a touch of natural character. This pottery was made in the Four Corners region and it came to us through a buy out on one of the major television shopping channels. This sensational wedding vase is approximately 8-1/2" tall, 6" wide, 17-1/2" in circumference, and it has a pair of 1-1/4" wide openings. Due to the hand crafted nature of this item, some variations may occur from piece to piece. The photo is an excellent representation of the one of a kind hand crafted pot you'll receive.

The Dine' People are a unique group of people still living the traditional life with many oral stories passed down to the younger generation through the Dine' language. The Navajo people have returned to their original name given to them by their holy people. The Dine' land (aka Navajo reservation) on top of Oak Creek Canyon is the largest reservation established for the Dine', covering about 25,000 sq. miles of land, which is located in the Southwest in parts of Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, and Colorado. The Dine' People believe they live within the Four Sacred Mountains.

This Hand Painted Jug makes for great decor in your home or place of business. This Hand Painted Vase is a great collectible. The idealized Native Mexican figure, either Maya or possibly Aztec, presents a glimpse into his traditional world. The ancient Mexican is adorned with gold jewelry and flanked with wooden artifacts and traditional symbols. In the background, thatch huts on stilts seem to light up in the evening, a nice compliment to the golden color scheme. This Mexican Vase has one spot around the back side with a ding in the paint job. A very minor issue that is hardly noticeable. The second to last photo shows these nicks with a thumb for size comparison. This jug is 13" tall and 8-1/2" wide and 27-1/4" circumference with a 1-3/4" opening.

Natalie uses horse hair in the firing of this Arizona pottery, which creates the shadowy, reticulated streaks that meander about the walls. This Arizona pottery is hand coiled, making Jetter's horse hair pottery most likely the only hand coiled horse hair pottery in the world, so you won't find it anywhere else! The process of hand-coiling a pot is unlike molded or thrown pots. It is exacting and intricate, so one pot can take longer than a day to complete, and definitely longer than just one sitting, making hand-coiled pottery a true test of technique and patience. The hand made quality and effort going into making just one Arizona pot increases the value and individuality exponentially, making each one of a kind piece of Arizona pottery a smart investment and a beautiful decor for a home or office. The horse hair and hand coiled nature of the pot combine to make it a true one of a kind, only found here. This pottery is about 8" wide by 5-3/4" tall with a 4-1/2" mouth and a 24-3/4" circumference. Signed NJ by the horse hair pottery artist Natalie Jetter.

The hand detailed hummingbirds & branched flowers are presented in the low relief (Sgraffito) style against an unglazed background. The hand painted hummingbirds are alive with color, grass green & cornflower blue, against the neutral colored background. The hand etched designs are stone polished to a nice sheen & you can see the stone rubbing marks that remains from the polishing. These markings are subtle and add to the overall quality of the pot. Cultural expression & artistic freedom are clearly evident in Martha's hand coiled pot & it would make a wonderful addition to your Southwestern collection. This unglazed, primitive, Sgraffito Mata Ortiz Pot stands ~7-1/2" tall, with a ~4-3/4" diameter. Signed by the talented & well-known Mata Ortiz Pottery artist, Martha Pinon.
