Mary BlackThe Black family, Navajos of Utah, are among the best Native American basket weavers working today. At the head of the family is Mary Holiday Black, she has spent over 50 years creating some of the best Navajo basketry available on the market. Her high quality work has brought her great notoriety and it won her many awards. She's been featured in People Magazine, she has won the 1995 Utah Governor’s Folk Art Award, and in 1996 she was presented with the $10,000 National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. |
