Frankie C. Nez

Frankie C. Nez is a versatile and talented Navajo Indian artist. He skillfully works in a wide variety of media such as ink, color pencil, water color, and bead work. He also carves kachina dolls and makes tomahawks. Nez does anything that comes to his imagination. Recently he's been gathering up his wood burning and carving tools and preparing himself to start a new line of original wood work. Frankie was was born on March 1, 1958 in Ganado, Arizona. He is a self taught artist who began drawing at the age of seven. In the 90s he began selling his work at street markets and restaurants. Nez's work has been seen and sold throughout the southwest, in Mexico, and beyond. His inspiration mainly comes from his observations of life on the reservation. When he's between projects Frankie works as a carpenter's assistant doing wood work and re-modeling homes, and he spends time with his grand daughter Julie. In the future Nez hopes to team up with one of his associates to open up a new gallery.
