From the "Heart of the Navajo Nation" comes the winner of the "First Prize" ribbon at the 1996 Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial Show in Gallup, New Mexico, the second biggest Pow-Wow in the Southwest!
You won't believe this is made of Sterling Silver but it is & it is an astonishing work of Native American art! This prize winning, highly collectible sculpture was created by Navajo Silversmith, Alvin Vandever when he was in his mid to late 20's, somewhere around 1995. With great care & attention, Alvin has created a Pueblo house that is unsurpassed in it its detail to the original. From the wood roof supports, Pueblo pottery & precisely detailed ladders, this magnificent structure doesn't miss a thing, including the hand stamped adobe brick work which surrounds the house. Equally compelling are the three small Mudheads that are trying to keep the Eagle Dancer from soaring to touch the heavens with their hand twisted Sterling wire rope! This Dancing Eagle Kachina doll is unmatched in Alvin's attention to detail. From every angle, there is something to see, from the fine lines of the feather work to the carving of his exquisite Eagle headdress & squash blossom necklace, the Eagle Kachina is a masterpiece in Sterling Silver. From the hand scratched plate of Sterling that represents desert sand to the small Sterling bells on his knees & hand stamped fur trim down his back, this handmade Sterling Silver sculpture is a thing of beauty! This is a highly collectible work of art that will grow in value over time. This Sterling Silver Native American sculpture is about 11-1/2" tall (including the base) and sits on a 12" square base. The base features an engraved nameplate with the sculpture's name, Kwau Koyemsi Kiva by: Alvin Vandever. The full sculpture includes a custom made plexi box that is removable.
