Jasper Beads

Our Jasper Beads offer up plenty of beauty with their natural earth tone shades. Jasper is an opaque, impure variety of silica, usually red, yellow, brown or green in color; and rarely blue. Jasper Beads are used for ornamentation or as a gemstone. It can be highly polished and is used for Pendants, Necklaces, Bracelets, etc. When the colors are striped or in bands, it is called striped or banded jasper. Jasper is basically chert which owes its red color to iron. Jasper, along with Heliotrope (bloodstone), is one of the traditional birthstones for March. It's also a stone in the Jewish High Priest's breastplate, described in Exodus 28. The name means "spotted or speckled stone", and is derived via Old French jaspre (variant of Anglo-Norman jaspe) and Latin.
