Silver Opal Earrings are jewelry attached to the ear through a piercing in the earlobe or some other external part of the ear, with the exception of clip earrings, which clip onto the earlobe. Silver Opal Earrings are worn by both sexes. Traditionally, earrings such as a pairs of Silver Earrings and Opal Earrings were worn primarily by females; however, in the western cultures of recent decades, ear piercing has become popular among males in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Other common locations other than the earlobe for piercings include the tragus, rook, and across the helix. The term ear piercing refers to an earlobe piercing, whereas piercings in the upper part of the external ear are often referred to as cartilage piercings, which are more complex to perform than earlobe piercings and take much longer to heal.

Materials used as components for a pair of earrings include metal, plastic, glass, precious stones, and beads. The styles of earrings range in size from small hoops and studs to dangling items and larger hoops. The earrings size is limited by the physical capacity of the earlobe to hold the earring without tearing; however, heavy earrings worn over extended periods of time may lead to stretching of the earlobe and the piercing.
