Zuni Indian Turquoise Sterling Silver Peyote Bird Squash Blossom Necklace, Bracelet, Ring Jewelry Set by Native American artist Laiwaketa  2588-SQNK

Zuni Indian Turquoise Sterling Silver Peyote Bird Squash Blossom Necklace, Bracelet, Ring Jewelry Set.

From the Heart of the Zuni Nation! This jewelry set features a squash blossom necklace, a cuff bracelet, a ring, and a pair of post earrings all hand made out of shimmering Sterling Silver. These sensational pieces of Zuni Indian jewelry are true works of art. They all feature traditional Native American images of Peyote Birds. These colorful Peyote Birds feature dazzling inlaid designs made from hand cut stones of natural Sleeping Beauty Turquoise, Coral, Jet, Mother of Pearl, and Gold Lip. The squash blossom has been hand strung with Sterling Silver bench beads. The bracelet has a double band cuff of Sterling Silver. This Squash Blossom Necklace is 28-1/2" long with a 3" x 3" naja. The bracelet is 5/8" wide and it'll fit a 5-1/2" to a 6-1/2" wrist. The ring is 1" wide and it'll fit a size 7. The post earrings are 2-3/8" long. Stamped Sterling. Signed by the Zuni Indian jewelry artist Laiwaketa.

The Zuni Indians learned to silversmith from the Navajo in the early 1870's. The Zuni, because they had permanent homes unlike the nomadic Navajo, were able to use many tools that the Navajo could not easily carry with them. With the lapidary wheels they began cutting stones and using the silver to hold their stones in patterns. Today, Zuni silversmiths are known for their lapidary skills. Both channel inlay (using precisely cut stones set on silver to form figures and designs) and cluster and needlepoint (setting small, similarly cut stones in geometric patterns) are traditional Zuni styles.

We understand the true value and nature of hand crafted Indian art. And, we recognize it's important to know that the artist is truly a member of a Native American tribe. So, to ensure you that this is the real deal, a Certificate of Authenticity has been included with this item.
