This Zuni Turquoise Bracelet is a gorgeous piece of hand crafted jewelry. This bracelet features a fantastic row of hand cut stones of natural Sleeping Beauty Turquoise. These breathtaking stones of high quality Turquoise are from the Sleeping Beauty mine in Globe, Arizona, which is the preferred Turquoise of the Indian jewelry artists of the Zuni Pueblo. The artists of Zuni believe that the use of this Turquoise brings honor to the Father Sky. The natural cool hues of this Turquoise perfectly complements the shine of the Sterling Silver. Turquoise and Silver, you can't go wrong with that. This petite bracelet is about 1/4" wide and it'll fit a 5-1/2" to a 6-1/2" wrist. The Zuni Indians learned to silversmith from the Navajo in the early 1870's. The Zuni, because they had permanent homes unlike the nomadic Navajo, were able to use many tools that the Navajo could not easily carry with them. With the lapidary wheels they began cutting stones and using the silver to hold their stones in patterns. Today, Zuni silversmiths are known for their lapidary skills. Both channel inlay (using precisely cut stones set on silver to form figures and designs) and cluster and needlepoint (setting small, similarly cut stones in geometric patterns) are traditional Zuni styles.
