This jewelry comes from one of the leading trading posts in the heart of the Indian Nation. Established over 35 years ago, the owners recently retired and liquidated $200,000 wholesale ($450,000 retail) of their inventory to Alltribes. They worked with some the best Navajo and Zuni jewelers and kept to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. This jewelry features unique designs and quality stones. It was made before silver went up and will have lower prices.
Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz and is a hugely popular semi-precious gemstone. If it were not for its widespread availability, amethyst would be very expensive. The name "amethyst" comes from the Greek and means "not intoxicating." This was maybe due to a belief that amethyst would ward off the effects of alcohol, but most likely the Greeks were referring to the almost wine-like color of some stones they may have encountered. Its color is unparalleled, and even other, more expensive purple gemstones are often compared to amethyst's color and beauty. Amethyst's coloration is due to ferric iron impurities reacting with the quartz in unique ways. Although it must always be purple to be amethyst, it can and does have a wide range of purple and violet shades.
