Nicknamed Princess Blue, Sodalite was first discovered in 1806 in Greenland and wasn't used in jewelry making for decades until a huge deposit of the mineral was found in Canada. Sodalite is often a royal blue color like its cousin Lapis. Unlike Lapis, it does not contain pyrite and is often mottled with white streaks or patches.
