This Wholesale Lot features 1/2 a pound of rough blue and green Arizona Turquoise nuggets. We think this bunch may be from the old Kingman mine, and is definitely from somewhere in Arizona. Each stone features its own natural blue, green, and earth tone hues. This mix of rough, stabilized Turquoise is perfect for creating any kind of hand made jewelry. These stones are great for making cabochons for bracelets, pendants, buckles, and bolo ties; or for drilling beads for stringing chokers and necklaces. It's a hobby horse's dream. This is like a blank canvas. The possibilities are endless, let your imagination run wild! You will be getting 1/2 pound from the Turquoise pictured below. Size and color vary within a fascinating spectrum of shapes and colors. On average the rough nuggets are 2" long in at least one direction and 1 1/2" thick. They can be as large as 4" long or occasionally as small as 1 inch with varying thicknesses and profiles.
There are many legends about Turquoise; The Pima consider it to bring good fortune and strength and that it helped overcome illness. The Zuni believe that blue turquoise was male and of the sky and green turquoise was female and of the earth. Pueblo Indians thought that its color was stolen from the sky. In Hopi legend the lizard who travels between the above and the below, excretes turquoise and that the stone can hold back floods. The Apache felt that turquoise on a gun or bow made it shoot straight. The Navajo consider it as good fortune to wear and believe it could appease the Wind Spirit. |
