This Wholesale Lot features 1/2 pound of genuine Turquoise and block Turquoise chips. This pile is a consistent solid robin's egg blue. Although 99% of this material is Turquoise and block Turquoise; Lapis, Malachite, Magnesite, and more may have found its way into this pile as the by-product of cabochon production and carving. Each stone features its own natural colors and shapes. Many pieces are carved into geometric shapes and have been drilled for bead work or heishi and never used. This mix of chip stone is perfect for creating unique hand made inlay jewelry or ground to a uniform grit to make fetish pottery, or incredible mosaics. This is like a blank canvas. The possibilities are endless, let your imagination run wild! You will be getting 1/2 pound from the turquoise inlay chips pictured below. Size and shape may vary considerably while the color is consistent. On average the pieces are 1/2 of an inch long in one direction, and can be as long as 2 1/2" or as small as 1/8 of an inch with varying thicknesses and profiles.

The Zuni believe that blue turquoise was male and of the sky and green turquoise was female and of the earth. Pueblo Indians thought that its color was stolen from the sky. In Hopi legend the lizard who travels between the above and the below, excretes turquoise and that the stone can hold back floods. The Apache felt that turquoise on a gun or bow made it shoot straight. The Navajo consider it as good fortune to wear and believe it could appease the Wind Spirit. |
