This authentic vintage watch cuff was originally made and bought in the 1950's. Hand made by a Native American artist. Deep hand stamped designs create a swirling effect along the border of the Sterling Silver cuff. A heavy gauge construction, built to last several lifetimes. This old pawn watch cuff is 1-1/2" wide and it'll fit a 7" to a 8" wrist. Generally we leave vintage and old pawn jewelry in its original condition, however, these watches were black as coal so we've cleaned them up with a high shine polish. No watch face included unless requested. You'll receive the exact, one of a kind old pawn watch bracelet pictured below. Stamped Sterling and signed by the artist W. with a custom stamp.
This jewelry comes from an estate sale out of San Diego. The estate was owned by a trader who past away recently at the age of 96 years old. He bought, collected, wore, and traded Native American and Southwestern jewelry for many years. Richard was able to buy up his remaining collection. These old pawn watch cuffs were part of that collection and were made about 50 years ago. This means they were made with high grade natural stones and traditional techniques, and have classic designs.
There are many legends about Turquoise; The Pima consider it to bring good fortune and strength and believe that it helps overcome illness. The Zuni believe that blue turquoise was male and of the sky and green turquoise was female and of the earth. Pueblo Indians thought that its color was stolen from the sky. In Hopi legend the lizard who travels between the above and the below, excretes turquoise and that the stone can hold back floods. The Apache felt that turquoise on a gun or bow made it shoot straight. The Navajo consider it as good fortune to wear and believe it could appease the Wind Spirit.
