Native Americans have always felt a special connection to nature. The belief that all things have a spirit is an integral part of their religions. The Zuni believe that animals are more like the Zuni deities than is man. They also believe that animals have more power than man and that these powers, both practical and spiritual, reside in their totems.
Some peculiar Horse laws:
In Kansas, all places of business are required by law to provide a water trough for horses, or in Alabama, it is an offense to open an umbrella on the street, since it might spook horses. In California, you are breaking the law if you pile horse manure more than six feet high on a street corner. Some laws obviously stem from the days of the Wild West. For example, in Texas, while it's against the law for anyone to drive a horse and buggy through the town square, it's perfectly acceptable to ride your horse into the saloon! The weirdest and wackiest law is the Washington State law that makes it illegal for any person to ride an ugly horse. |
