Turquoise Coral Necklace Sterling Silver Pendant Beaded Native American Necklace.

Designed and hand made by Navajo artists Verna Blackgoat and Veronica Begay. This Beaded Native American Necklace is gorgeous. Nine beautiful strands of sky blue Turquoise and red Coral hold a traditional Sterling Silver pendant. The pendant is set with hand cut cabochons of genuine Sleeping Beauty Turquoise. It was hand made by Verna and the beaded necklace was strung by Veronica, both Navajo artists working in our shop. Their collaboration has created some of the nicest Indian designs available anywhere. This necklace is truly a gorgeous work of wearable Navajo Indian art. Each end of this Turquoise necklace is dressed with Sterling Silver cones and a hook eye clasp. The total length of this Native American Turquoise necklace is 21". The pendants average about 3" to 3-1/2" long including the bail. No two pendants are the same so the group picture demonstrates the range in shape and size. Stamped Sterling and signed by the Navajo artists with a hallmark.

There are many legends about Turquoise; The Pima consider it to bring good fortune and strength and that it helped overcome illness. The Zuni believe that blue turquoise was male and of the sky and green turquoise was female and of the earth. Pueblo Indians thought that its color was stolen from the sky. In Hopi legend the lizard who travels between the above and the below, excretes turquoise and that the stone can hold back floods. The Apache felt that turquoise on a gun or bow made it shoot straight. The Navajo consider it as good fortune to wear and believe it could appease the Wind Spirit.
