Turquoise Buffalo Silver Trophy Buckle by Jackson  1486-6225-BB(J)

Turquoise Buffalo Silver Trophy Buckle by Jackson.

This Turquoise Buffalo Silver Trophy Buckle is an impressive piece of hand made Turquoise jewelry art. This Trophy Buckle was masterfully hand made from nickel Silver for a high shine. The chip inlay buffalo design of genuine Turquoise offer this Trophy Buckle plenty of natural color. This Trophy Buckle has been engraved with traditional old western floral designs. Made in our shop by master buckle maker JR Jackson. It would make for an excellent gift. This buckle is 3" wide and 3-3/4" long with a 1-1/2" wide keeper on the back.

There are many legends about Turquoise; The Pima consider it to bring good fortune and strength and that it helped overcome illness. The Zuni believe that blue turquoise was male and of the sky and green turquoise was female and of the earth. Pueblo Indians thought that its color was stolen from the sky. In Hopi legend the lizard who travels between the above and the below, excretes turquoise and that the stone can hold back floods. The Apache felt that turquoise on a gun or bow made it shoot straight. The Navajo consider it as good fortune to wear and believe it could appease the Wind Spirit.

No animal has ever given so much to a people as the largest and most spectacular creature of North America, the great American bison. The Plains Indians depended upon the buffalo for food, shelter, and clothing. The large nomadic herds were a huge part of their life, and the people appealed directly to the Buffalo in prayer. The medicine men called upon the powers of the "spirit buffalo" to help them in rituals. It is told that the spirit of the buffalo will return to reunite the people, thereby mending the Sacred Hoop, which has no ending and no beginning. This will be a time for the prophecies to come together, for people of all colors to understand about Mother Earth, and to have respect for one another and their nations. This will be a time for healing.
