Turquoise Bracelet Traditional Native American Turquoise Sterling Silver Cuff Bracelet by Verna.
This traditional Turquoise Bracelet is a true work of art. Hand made by Navajo silversmith Verna Blackgoat. This design is dressed with three large oval cabochons of genuine Cananea Turquoise. They are set on a triple band cuff of shining Sterling Silver. Hand made Sterling Silver bezels and bead wire frame the Turquoise with a high shine. The Turquoise is just full of natural character, vivid sky blue hues that no computer monitor can accurately reproduce. It is 2-1/4" wide and will fit a 5-1/2" to a 7-1/2" wrist. Stamped Sterling and signed by the Navajo artist with a hallmark. Turquoise cabochons will vary slightly. The group shot gives an idea of the variation in each hand made bracelet.
Since about 200 B.C., Turquoise has been extensively used by southwestern U.S. Native Americans and by many of the Indian tribes in Mexico. The Native American Jewelry or "Indian style" jewelry with Turquoise mounted in or with silver is relatively new. Some believe this style of jewelry was unknown prior to approximately 1880, when a white trader persuaded a Navajo craftsman to make Turquoise and silver jewelry using coin silver. Prior to this time, the Native Americans had made solid turquoise beads, carvings, and inlaid mosaics. Recently, Turquoise has found wide acceptance among people of all walks of life and from many different ethnic groups.
