Stamp Collection Lot of US First Day Covers, Cachet First Day Stamps, Animal Stamps, Presidents Stamps & MORE
Lots of history here. This large stamp collection spans the 60's through 80's. It's a consecutive run of First Day issues starting in the 60's and continuing through the 80's. The collector did his best to acquire each issue, including special covers, the presidents, and the wildlife series. It's all about First Day of Issue Covers and commemorative stamps and features a wide variety of First Day Stamps, Covers, and Cachets. The collection was well cared for so each cover is in excellent condition. The stamps have a huge scope of subjects and themes that is too large to list here, this collection has it all. For the most part the covers have common Cachets, but there are a few special limited edition cachets by sought after artists in the bunch. There are eleven volumes total including the 1987 American Wildlife First Day Covers and the 1986 Presidents First Day Covers. There are also some stamp folios and other stamp related materials. Altogether this collection is valued at about $900. We're pricing it to sell at $450.
When new stamps are created, the postal service issues special decorated envelopes to carry the new stamps out to collectors on the first day of issue. The envelope that a new stamp is mailed on is called the Cover, the picture or graphic that is printed on the envelope is called a Cachet. The envelope is decorated to celebrate the new edition stamp and some of the artworks and designs are unique and sought after by collectors. In this collection, the decorated envelopes have been issued with full page inserts that hold the envelope securely. They also include essays full of information about the stamp's subject, from Hopi Pottery and the Buffalo to Albert Einstein and Steamboats. |
