They are not completed bells; there is some assembly required with parts and ringers that are not included with this set. These bells will take any kind of paint well including acrylics (non-fired) and fired paints. After painting with non-fired paints, consider spraying with a protective sealant or lacquer coating as the unfired bisque is absorbent and will collect dirt and oils.
