Peace Pipe

The peace pipe, also known as a calumet or medicine pipe, is a ceremonial smoking pipe used by many Native American tribes as a token of peace.

The word "peace pipe" is a European construct based on only one type of pipe and one way it was used. Ceremonial peace pipes were used by the northern Lakota Sioux Indians as a means of conveying prayers or wishes to the originating forces or beings.
