One of a Kind Original Set of Three Wisemen Sculptures Large Hand Made Pottery with Turquoise Stones.
This One of a Kind Original Set of Three Wisemen Sculptures with Turquoise Stones is amazing art. This impressive set is all hand made from a pattern to form three wise men. The natural textures and sedimentary pattern provide extra detail to the hand-stamping and features of each wise man. The sculptures are fired in an electric kiln at 3000 degrees and receive their antiqued coloring from a red iron oxide stain. Soft earth tone hues of sand to rust brown add shading and depth to these remarkable sculptures. Each piece is decorated with turquoise stones. These sculptures will be magnificent additions to any decor. They are especially perfect as Christmas decorations. These solid and sturdy pieces are about 7" wide and 13" tall. This set of sculptures is unique; although each set uses the same pattern and is approximately the same size and shape, the features are different for each piece. Created by hand by Jan Candy.
Jan Candy adapted the pattern for the wisemen from Georgie Mourer, a teacher in Orange County, California. Jan learned as Georgie's teaching assistant at Silverado High School. She uses the pattern learned at the high school and her own creativity to make each wiseman sculpture unique while keeping the same quality of work. She has worked on and off with pottery for over thirty years and has taught out of her own home and Kil 'n Time in Arizona, now closed. Jan is married to Alltribes' owner, Richard Candy.
The objects man makes are called artifacts, and every artifact, whether it is beautiful or ugly, crude or refined, utilitarian or ceremonial, is a reflection and product of man's skills, his techniques, his arts. Artifacts reflect the ideas, the concepts, and the knowledge acquired or learned as a member of a tribe. Members of a particular tribe use certain techniques, and create a particular style because that is their tradition. |
