Navajo Indian Jewelry Turquoise Silver Choker Necklace by Native American artist Verna Blackgoat  1182-253900-NK

Navajo Indian Jewelry Turquoise Silver Choker Necklace by Native American artist Verna Blackgoat.

This Turquoise Choker is full of natural beauty. Thirty years ago this necklace was designed by Navajo Indian jewelry artist Jimmy Emerson and our owner Richard and were still making it in our shop today. We use three nuggets of genuine Emerald Valley Turquoise, full of natural vivid color. Each Turquoise stone has been set in a brilliant setting of Sterling Silver. Turquoise and Silver, you can't go wrong with that. This Turquoise necklace has been strung with Sterling Silver bench beads. Sterling Silver cones with a hook-eye clasps finish each end. The length of this Turquoise choker necklace is 16-1/2". Stamped Sterling and Signed by the Navajo artist Verna Blackgoat with a hallmark. You'll receive the exact one-of-a-kind necklace pictured below.

There are many legends about Turquoise; The Pima consider it to bring good fortune and strength and believe that it helps overcome illness. The Zuni believe that blue turquoise was male and of the sky and green turquoise was female and of the earth. Pueblo Indians thought that its color was stolen from the sky. In Hopi legend the lizard who travels between the above and the below, excretes turquoise and that the stone can hold back floods. The Apache felt that turquoise on a gun or bow made it shoot straight. The Navajo consider it as good fortune to wear and believe it could appease the Wind Spirit.

We understand the true value and nature of hand crafted Indian art. And, we recognize it's important to know that the artist is truly a member of a Native American tribe. So, to ensure you that this is the real deal, a Certificate of Authenticity has been included with this item.
