Navajo Indian Genuine Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Silver Concho Belt by Tsosi  0030-CN-ST

Navajo Indian Genuine Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Silver Concho Belt by Tsosi.

This belt is simply gorgeous. It showcases specially selected nuggets of genuine Sleeping Beauty Turquoise, highly sought after for its vibrant sky blues. The Turquoise is set on nine conchos and ten butterflies each hand cut from nickel silver for a high shine that won't tarnish. The traditional hand stamped designs are done with a lively style. The buckle is 3-1/2" wide by 3" tall. The conchos are 2" by 1-1/2" and the butterflies are 2" by 1-1/4". Signed by the Navajo artist Vincent Tsosi. Vincent only made four of these belts and will not be making any more like this so don't miss out. Turquoise stones may vary slightly from belt to belt. You will receive one from the group pictured below.

Turquoise has been, since about 200 B.C., extensively used by southwestern U.S Native Americans and by many of the Indian tribes in Mexico. The Native American Jewelry or "Indian style" jewelry with turquoise mounted in or with silver dates back to around 1875, when a white trader persuaded a Navajo craftsman to make turquoise and silver jewelry using coin silver. Prior to this time Native Americans had used turquoise for many years to embellish and enhance jewelry created from beads, like necklaces and earrings, and used solitaire semi-nuggets or carved fetishes as pendants. Setting the Turquoise in Silver became a tradition by the 1900's and the Zuni and Navajo developed their own methods and styles for doing this. Today's use of turquoise in jewelry continues to evolve, and the stone's wide range of colors and forms have been utilized in many ways. Its abundant use in jewelry of all kinds makes it highly sought after and its value is continually increasing.

We understand the true value and nature of hand crafted Indian art. And, we recognize it's important to know that the artist is truly a member of a Native American tribe. So, to ensure you that this is the real deal, a Certificate of Authenticity has been included with this item.
