Navajo Genuine Spiny Oyster Turquoise Cabochon Sterling Silver Necklace by Verna.
This Navajo Sterling Silver Necklace is full of natural character. It was made in our shop by Navajo artist Verna Blackgoat and it's based off of the old Harry Morgan design. This necklace holds large gorgeous cabochons of genuine Spiny Oyster and Turquoise. These sensational stones deliver natural orange, red and purple shades with deep and dazzling matrices. The Spiny Oyster and Turquoise have been artfully circled by hand-twisted wire and hang on a double-strand bench bead necklace. The warm shades of the Spiny Oyster brilliantly contrast with the cool hues of the Turquoise. This necklace has a beautifully designed Sterling Silver centerpiece. The necklace is 28" long, stamped Sterling, and signed by the Navajo artist. The natural stones will vary slightly. You will like the group pictured below.
The Spiny Oyster gemstone is actually a colorful shell that comes from the species Spondylus varius also known as the Spiny Oyster or Thorny Oyster. The Thorny Oyster is a bivalve mollusk that dwells primarily in tropical ocean waters. They can be found along the coasts of North Carolina all the way down to the waters near Brazil. It is a stunning animal to look at, and it is often a subject for underwater photography. The dazzling shells of the Thorny Oyster are rare finds and they’re treasured for their beautiful red, brown, yellow, orange, purple, and white colors.
