Navajo 10-Strand Natural Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Sterling Silver Bench Bead Necklace 0378-BNK
Navajo 10-Strand Turquoise Sterling Silver Bench Bead Necklace
This necklace is high in quality and fashion. It features ten full strands of natural, genuine Sleeping Beauty Turquoise nuggets. The pretty and petite Turquoise offer its incredible sky-blue color to this work of wearable art. The Turquoise nuggets are about 4mm long and have been artfully hand-strung back-to-back to create a beautiful pure blue necklace. The ten Turquoise strands come together at the large Sterling Silver filigreed barrels. The Sterling Silver bench beads offer their high shine and 2-1/2" at each end between the barrels and the Sterling Silver cones with fasteners. It was made in our shop by Navajo artists Pauline Jim and Berlinda Begay. This necklace is 23" long. Don't let this one pass you by!
Turquoise is a valuable mineral and is possibly the most valuable, non-transparent mineral in the jewelry trade. It has been mined since at least 6000 B.C. by early Egyptians. Its history also includes beautiful ornamental creations by Native Americans and Persians. Its popularity is still quite strong today. The finest turquoise comes from Iran but is challenged by some southwestern United States specimens. The name derives from a French word, which means stone of Turkey, from where Persian material passed on its way to Europe.
