Native American Turquoise Silver Buffalo Fetish Necklace 3497-FNK
Native American Turquoise Silver Buffalo Fetish Necklace.
This necklace is a true work of art. A herd of Buffalo totems come together to form a beautiful totem necklace. Each one of these Buffalo totems have been artfully hand carved and hand etched out of cool blue Turquoise (block). Genuine Penn Shell Heishi beads and block Turquoise Heishi beads add the colors of the earth and provide the spacing for this necklace. Shimmering plated Silver cones adorn both ends. Strung in our shop by Navajo Indian jewelry artist Berlinda Begay. It is 29-1/2" long.
Turquoise has been used for personal adornment in almost all countries of the world. The Persians wore it, the Tibetans, Greeks, Romans, Aztecs, Incas and of course the Indians of our own Southwest, who have been mining and wearing it since the time of Christ. Turquoise has decorated the thrones of Kings, inlaid in the crowns of kings and queens and appeared in the crown jewels of many countries. During the 15th century the Queen of France gave a gold ring set with Turquoise to King James IV of Scotland as a pledge of friendship. When Queen Elizabeth of England was married, her gift from the President of Mexico was an exact replica of a prehistoric Nahuate (Aztec) brooch of gold inlaid with Turquoise and so on.
