It has been hand stamped with plant and cloud designs. Plus, it has been overlaid with traditional deer and southwestern mesa images that were made from shining 14K Gold. Silver and Gold, you can't go wrong with that. This incredible buckle is 2" wide and 3" long with a 1-1/2" wide keeper on the back. Stamped Sterling and 14K. Signed by the Navajo artist H. This is a true one of a kind. What you see is what you get. Once it's gone, it's gone.
Valued since the dawn of time as a store of wealth, gold continues to be the most solid medium of exchange in the world. The western states have seen many gold rushes...California in 1849, Colorado in 1859, the Yukon in 1897, and the latest gold rush of the 1980s and 1990s with its huge surface mines in the old gold mining camps of the western U.S. The United States is once again one of the largest producers of gold in the world, producing real wealth from the riches of nature.
Overlay is created by "sweating" or soldering, two pieces of silver together. The top piece contains a design element which is meticulously cut out of silver. The bottom piece is oxidized and often textured to produce a contrasting background. Then carefully filed, buffed and polished to produce this fine finish.
