Native American Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Sterling Silver Concho Belt 0171-CN
Native American Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Sterling Silver Concho Belt
Dress yourself in style! This is a concho belt that you can definitely make a strong and unique statement with. This belt was designed by our owner Richard and his friend Connie. It features twelve Sterling Silver conchos of a classic and popular southwestern design. The Sterling Silver conchos give off an incredible antique gleam. The buckle was hand-stamped with traditional fine line southwestern designs. Most importantly, each concho of the buckle features a ring of 26 genuine Sleeping Beauty Turquoise nuggets around the edge. This is truly the Tiffany of Turquoise with its natural sky blue colors. This belt was made in the tradition of the "First Phase" belts of times past. "First Phase" indicates the original technique of hammering out the metal of the belt, punching holes in it and putting leather through it. Each of the twelve conchos, which includes the buckle, is 2-1/2" wide by 3" long. The leather belt can be cut to fit, so send us your belt size. There are only going to be 10 of these made, and the individual design and great quality will ensure these go fast, so place your order now and we'll get it to you as soon as possible. For the leather, you can choose a nice maroon or black color; just remember to put your choice in the comment box.
In Indian folklore it is said that there was once a chief with turquoise colored skin. One day he was running from his enemies in the hot desert. Whenever he stopped to rest, his perspiration ran onto the ground, collected in rocks and became turquoise.
The Sleeping Beauty mine is located near Globe, Arizona. Its turquoise is noted for its solid, light blue color with no matrix. Sleeping Beauty turquoise is the favorite of the Zuni Pueblo silversmiths for use in petite point, needlepoint, and inlay jewelry.
