Native American Mohave TURQUOISE SILVER Bracelet by Navajo Indian artist Emerson
This Navajo made bracelet is a classic of the southwest. This one was made by Jimmy Emerson, a master Navajo silversmith from Gallup, New Mexico. Jimmy has worked with us for over 20 years creating some incredible, high quality Silver work. This bracelet has hand cut pieces of genuine Mohave Turquoise. Richard wishes he had 10,000 pounds of this Turquoise. Each of these touching, tear drop shaped Turquoise stones have been set in individually hand made Sterling Silver bezels that have sweated to hand cut and hand stamped Sterling Silver sheets. Hand twisted Sterling Silver wires and 'Navajo Tear Drops' increase the high shine to this one. The traditional hand stamped designs give this one a native, southwestern feeling. This bracelet is 1-1/2" wide at the center, and will fit a 5-1/2" to a 7-1/2" wrist. Let us know your size in the comment box as you check out. In Indian folklore it is said that there was once a chief with turquoise colored skin. One day he was running from his enemies in the hot desert. Whenever he stopped to rest, his perspiration ran onto the ground, collected in rocks and became turquoise.
There are many legends about Turquoise; The Pima consider it to bring good fortune and strength and believe that it helps overcome illness. The Zuni believe that blue turquoise was male and of the sky and green turquoise was female and of the earth. Pueblo Indians thought that its color was stolen from the sky. In Hopi legend the lizard who travels between the above and the below, excretes turquoise and that the stone can hold back floods. The Apache felt that turquoise on a gun or bow made it shoot straight. The Navajo consider it as good fortune to wear and believe it could appease the Wind Spirit.
