Native American Genuine Azurite Cabochon Sterling Silver Necklace Jewelry by Navajo artist Jimmy Emerson.

This hand-made Navajo Jewelry is sensational. The stunning Native American Necklace is made from beautiful Azurite and Sterling Silver. It was masterfully hand-cut out of shimmering Sterling Silver. Each of the three hand-made and artfully decorated bezels holds a striking cabochon of genuine Azurite. The Azurite and Sterling Silver pieces hang on a box link chain for complete flexibility and adjustability. The total length of this Azurite Necklace is 17-1/2". Stamped Sterling and signed JE by the Navajo Indian jewelry artist Jimmy Emerson. The item pictured below is the one-of-a-kind necklace you'll receive.

Azurite is an an intense deep blue color with a Mohs hardness between 3 and 4. Various sources claim the name is derived from the Persian word lazhward or from the Arabic word azul, which both mean blue. Azurite often occurs with malachite, chrysocolla or turquoise in areas with copper deposits. A rare form called "Bluebird" has dark red Cuprite mixed with it. Azurite is found in the southwestern USA, Mexico, Chile, Australia, France, Nambia, Morocco, and Zaire. For thousands of years this stone has been used in jewelry and ornamental objects. During the Middle Ages and Renaissance it was ground into pigment for use in paint and eye shadow. It is not generally known as a birthstone, but references indicate it may have been used as a birthstone for the sign of Taurus.

We understand the true value and nature of hand crafted Indian art. And, we recognize that it is important to know that the artist is truly a member of a Native American tribe. So, to ensure you that this is the real deal, a Certificate of Authenticity has been included with this item.
