Native American Clothing Indian Artifact Denim Beaded Embroidered Indian Ghost Shirt  0007-SHIRT

Native American Clothing Indian Artifact Denim Beaded Embroidered Indian Ghost Shirt.

This Native American traditional denim Ghost Shirt is full of spiritual beauty. It starts with a vintage Roebucks denim jacket that has very little wear for its age. This jacket has been artfully decorated by hand with astonishing bead work that borders a hand embroidered Steer skull design. Tin cones secure genuine hairpipe bone beads, Spiny Oyster shell medallions, and horse hair for natural textures and a distinct character. Genuine hand painted designs add vibrant colors and a personal touch to this strong and durable Native American contemporary clothing. This Ghost Shirt is a modern day counterpart of the Ghost shirts worn by the Lakota-Sioux people for the Ghost Dance. The Ghost Shirts hold a lot of spiritual significance for the Lakota-Sioux. This one is 20" wide from shoulder to shoulder and 27" in length at the longest point. It'll fit a Size 17 for Men and a Size 8 to 11 for a woman. This ghost shirt has very little wear and is like new. This genuine Native American contemporary Denim Ghost Shirt is truly a wonderful work of art. Most Ghost Shirts without nearly as much hand made decoration bring in $1800 to $2500 at Indian auctions.

The Ghost dance is a variation of an ancient traditional Native American dance known as the Circle Dance or Round Dance. Like other Native American dances, it served many spiritual purposes as well as bringing the community together. The Ghost Dance is a circle dance that focussed on embracing the ways of the past and rejecting some of the negative influences of white people in a peaceful way. This included creating a connection to ancestors or the dead and trying to end the mourning of those that have more recently past. A Native American shaman named Wovoka, who was a member of the Paiute Tribe, started the Ghost dance as part of his movement to help Plains Indian Tribes to recover and heal from the many problems and changes they faced in the second half of the 1800's. It quickly spread throughout many Native American tribes.

"The first peace...is that which comes within the souls of men when they realize their [relationship] with the universe and all its Powers...is really everywhere, it is within each of us." (Oglala Lakota)

We understand the true value and nature of hand crafted Indian art. And, we recognize it's important to know that the artist is truly a member of a Native American tribe. So, to ensure you that this is the real deal, a Certificate of Authenticity has been included with this item.
