This beautiful soft leather BUCKSKIN covered NAVAJO BOW measures 44-1/2" – it is decorated with Seed Bead Work, Feathers, Horse Hair and Braided Buck Skin Leather. The bone tipped arrows measure 34-1/2" in length – feathers and tips are attached to the shaft with artificial sinew. More than a dozen leather fringes connect beads and large feathers to both ends of the bow. A magnificent show piece for your collectible wall. Beautiful beadwork appears on the front of the bow. Bows and arrows displayed are intended for wall decoration.Indian warriors gained status not only from their success in battle, but their skills in crafting hunting tools and weapons. Typically Bow woods used are Ash, Black Locust, Black Cherry, Osage Orange, White Oak and Hickory. Arrows were made mostly from dogwood, yaupon holly, witch hazel and willow because they could be smoothed and straighten easily. Arrow points made of noviculite and obsidian were chipped with a moose and deer antler.
