The symbols and designs on Hopi Pottery vary from artist to artist. Common designs used include birds such as eagles, roadrunners, and parrots as well as pueblo villages, migration patterns, kachinas, lightning, rain and clouds, kiva designs, waves and other symbols of life such as corn.
There are many different colors of Hopi pottery, but most is beige or tan color. Some Hopi Pots are white, and a new red color is gaining popularity. Most Hopi pottery is painted with natural dark paint, made from a plant known as Ausa to the Hopi.
