This gorgeous, white, hand coiled wedding vase pottery was painstakingly made by hand by master Hopi/ Tewa potter Grace Lomahquahu. Grace is a daughter to the famous potter Joy Navasie, the frog woman. This white ware, wedding vase has been fired to create a beautiful cream color. The thin, hand coiled walls of this wedding vase have been intricately hand painted by Grace in traditional designs with earthy red and brown colors. A true one of a kind, no part of this white ware pottery has been artificially or commercially produced. This wedding vase has been signed by Grace with the initial G., and the traditional family frog symbol. This Hopi/ Tewa wedding vase pottery is 8-1/2" tall, 4-3/4" wide, 15-3/4" in circumference, and has two 1-1/4" wide openings.
Grace Lomahquahu learned the fine art of pottery from her legendary mother Joy Navasie, the second Frog Woman. Joy's pottery work is highly collectible and has been featured in museums across the nation. Grace keeps the Navasie pottery legacy alive through her art and her technique. Grace's grandmother was Paqua the original Frog Woman, and creator of the white ware style of Hopi/ Tewa pottery. The Navasie family is the pillar of a strong tradition of Hopi/ Tewa pottery.
