HEROES of AMERICA U.S. Customs Badge 2692-BG
This is strong, proud relic of old Americana. This replicated old U.S. Customs Agent badge features the image of a bald eagle with spread wings standing on a traditional emblem. Take part in an honorable tradition that dates back to 1789. The custom agents under President Washington kept this country financially afloat during our less than fruitful first years as a nation. The first check that U.S. customs received was worth $774.41, it came from Captain James Weeks for a shipment of Italian imports. That was a slow start to an opening year that ended up bringing in upwards of two million dollars. From then on for next 124 years the U.S. Customs provided our nation it's main source of income. This badge is made from cast white metal. It is 1-3/4" by 2-3/4". This replica has been cast from a mold made from the original.Even though the Federales of old Mexico informed Bogie that they needed no "stinking badges", those of us who spent our early years fascinated with the old west have always had an interest in the tin stars worn by our heroes. The men who kept law and order in Dodge City, Tombstone, Deadwood and other settlements in the wild, wild west will always ride through our memories, raising dust and gunning down the bad guys. We are proud to present this "Heroes of the West" collector badge. The original badges were hand cut from metal and old coins in prisons in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas over one hundred years ago. |
