Genuine Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Sterling Silver Necklace
This necklace is an impressive piece of hand-made jewelry. This one was beautifully hand-made out of shimmering Sterling Silver. This sensational necklace features a gorgeous display of a hand-cut nugget of Genuine Sleeping Beauty Turquoise set onto the hand-cut center sheet of Sterling Silver that is traditionally and beautifully patterned with a sheet of overlay and fine hatch marks. The two horizontal pieces have a cutout where the Turquoise is in the center vertical piece. The two horizontal settings are 1-3/4" long and the center piece is larger at 2" long. The gorgeous blue Turquoise stone beautifully compliments the white shine of the Sterling Silver. The necklace has been strung with a silver box link chain and hook-eye and comb clasps finish each end. This necklace is 18" long. Turquoise is a valuable mineral and is possibly the most valuable, non-transparent mineral in the jewelry trade. It has been mined for eons since at least 6000 BC. by early Egyptians. Most specimens are crypto crystalline, meaning that the crystals could only be seen by a microscope. The finest turquoise comes from Iran but is challenged by some southwestern United States specimens. The name comes from a French word, which means stone of Turkey, from where Persian material passed on its way to Europe.
