These Turquoise earrings are full of natural character. These sensational earrings have been hand strung with gorgeous nuggets of genuine Turquoise from the Sleeping Beauty mine near Globe, AZ. The natural sky blues are amazing! The Turquoise nuggets alternate with shining plated Silver seed beads and dangle from plated Silver French Hooks. Turquoise and Silver, you can't go wrong with that. These beautiful earrings are 1-1/8" long with 6mm (average) Turquoise nuggets. Turquoise stones will vary slightly from pair to pair. These Native American Earrings were hand made by Navajo artist Veronica Begay. Veronica is the niece to famed Navajo Indian silversmith Victor Begay. Veronica, also known as Ronni, was born and raised on the reservation in a small town called Many Farms, AZ. Veronica has been making jewelry since she was 15 years old. Her parents, Wilson and Linda Begay, taught her and she comes from a family of silversmiths. Her parents are well known on the reservation and her uncle, Victor Begay, is a famous and well known silversmith.
The Sleeping Beauty mine is located near Globe, Arizona. Its turquoise is noted for its solid, light blue color with no matrix. Sleeping Beauty turquoise is the favorite of the Zuni Pueblo silversmiths for use in petite point, needlepoint, and inlay jewelry. This mine is one of the largest in North America and is still operating.
