Genuine Apache Native American Indian Artifact Cradle Board 0010-NC
Genuine Apache Native American Indian Artifact Cradle Board.
This Genuine Apache Cradle Board is a beautiful and colorful hand made Native American artifact. This cradle board comes straight from the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation. This one was made in the Apache tradition starting with a single curved hoop hand made from a wood sapling. Flat slats of light weight wood are then laid across the hoop creating the backboard. The head cover is made from intricately woven cottonwood branches that create a large arch for protection from the sun. This Cradle Board was then covered in yellow cotton and intricate hand made seed bead work for a vibrant and traditional Native American look. The total length of this one of a kind Apache Cradle Board is 33".
This cradle board was made by Apache father Dempsey Bylas Jr. He made this one by hand to carry his own daughter. That was a little while ago and now she has since outgrown it. He still wasn't going to sell this amazing piece though, instead saving it to give to the next expecting parents to come along. Unfortunately he became ill and the hospital bills were too much to handle so he sold this amazing cradle board to help cover the expenses. Richard was lucky enough to be in the area when Bylas was selling this artifact and we are proud to offer this rare, one of a kind cradle board to you.
