This Inlaid Turquoise Lapis Steel Pocket Knife is a master work of art! Quality man made materials of Malachite and Jet have been perfectly inlaid in shining steel channels on the handle to this one along with some genuine Ironwood for a natural touch. The mix of gemstones creates a good variety of complimenting colors that's very appealing to the eye. The silver tone Stainless Steel ends give off a high shine. Inlaid by hand by master Navajo Indian craftswoman Doris Yazzie of Kayenta, Arizona. She's been making knives for over 25 years. Form and function, this one was built for beauty and for lasting quality to give years of good service. Signed DY Navajo. The handle to this knife is 3" long. The stainless steel blade is 2-3/8" in length.
MALACHITE comes from copper ore, thus exuding a green appearance. Its origin dates back to ancient Egypt, and, as with several other precious stones, was believed to possess magical powers. It has been found in Zaire, France, England, Rhodesia, New Mexico, and Arizona. It is rare and highly esteemed by mineral collectors. Malachite is used for making beads, carved figurines, and cabochons (cut stones). However, larger quantities have been used in certain palace walls and buildings in Russia.
