This Inlaid Two Blade Turquoise Stainless Steel Pocket Knife is a master work of art! Quality man made materials of Turquoise, Pearl, and Lapis have been perfectly inlaid in shining steel channels on the handle to this one along with some genuine Ironwood for a natural touch. The mix of gemstones creates a good variety of complimenting colors that's very appealing to the eye. The silver tone Stainless Steel ends give off a high shine. Made by Frost Cutlery. Inlaid by hand by master Navajo Indian craftswoman Doris Yazzie of Kayenta, Arizona. She's been making knives for over 25 years. Form and function, this one was built for beauty and for lasting quality to give years of good service. Signed DY Navajo. The handle to this knife is 2-3/4" long. The stainless steel blades are 1-5/8" and 2-1/4" in length.
Turquoise is a valuable mineral and is possibly the most valuable, non-transparent mineral in the jewelry trade. It has been mined for eons since at least 6000 BC. by early Egyptians. Its history also includes beautiful ornamental creations by Native Americans and Persians. Its popularity is still quite strong today. Although crystals of any size are rare, some small crystals have been found in Virginia and elsewhere. Most specimens are crypto crystalline, meaning that the crystals could only be seen by a microscope. The finest turquoise comes from Iran but is challenged by some southwestern United States specimens. The name comes from a French word, which means stone of Turkey, from where Persian material passed on its way to Europe.
