Beaded Buckskin Traditional Medicine Bag Necklace by Linda Begay 1261-NC
Beaded Buckskin Traditional Medicine Bag Necklace
This is a top-of-the-line medicine bag necklace by Linda Begay. This spectacular artifact was masterfully crafted by hand out of genuine buckskin for naturally soft textures. Beaded fringe hangs off the bottom in a lovely pattern and decorates the sides and front. The opening is tied by a leather fringe. The bead work is impressive with its symmetrical design. The necklace is made of the same beaded colors and patterns as the bag. The artist used vibrant seed beads for a dazzling look for each uniquely colored bag. The front is embellished with a charm or fetish. Although these medicine bags have a clasp to allow them to be worn around the neck, they are traditionally worn at the belt. This white medicine bag is 2" wide and 3" long. The necklace is 15" long. Each bag is unique; you'll receive one from the group pictured below.
The objects man makes are called artifacts, and every artifact, whether it is beautiful or ugly, crude or refined, utilitarian or ceremonial, is a reflection and product of man's skills, his techniques, his arts. Artifacts reflect the ideas, the concepts, and the knowledge acquired or learned as a member of a tribe. Members of a particular tribe use certain techniques, and create a particular style because that is their tradition.
Certificate of Authenticity The only reason why we can't offer you a Certificate is because we didn't buy it directly from the artist. We believe it's Indian made, but we can't guarantee it. Anybody that's an expert on these sorts of things please e-mail us so that we may be better informed. |
