A time honored work of Navajo made art. This watch features Genuine Sleeping Beauty Turquoise nuggets artfully set on heavy gauge Sterling Silver. The Silver was hand cut and hand stamped with traditional fine line designs. The Sterling twist wire and drops were all hand made and surround the Turquoise with a brilliant white shine. This Turquoise is high grade, top notch stone and is showcased perfectly in this impressive watch. Made by Navajo jewelers Robert Leekia and his wife Bernice. Complimentary watch face included for your convenience. The watch tips are 1-1/2" wide by 1-3/4" long and attached to a stretch band that can be easily adjusted for size. Stamped Sterling and signed by the artist Robert Leekia. Turquoise stones may vary slightly, you will receive one from the group of watches pictured below.
There are many legends about Turquoise; The Pima consider it to bring good fortune and strength and believe that it helps overcome illness. The Zuni believe that blue turquoise was male and of the sky and green turquoise was female and of the earth. Pueblo Indians thought that its color was stolen from the sky. In Hopi legend the lizard who travels between the above and the below, excretes turquoise and that the stone can hold back floods. The Apache felt that turquoise on a gun or bow made it shoot straight. The Navajo consider it as good fortune to wear and believe it could appease the Wind Spirit.
