Arizona Highways Back Issue Collection Unsearched Lot of 10, 1960's through 1980's  253726-CL

Arizona Highways Back Issue Collection Unsearched Lot of 10, 1960's through 1980's. We have seen these Magazines sell from $20.00 to $100.00 EACH.

Lots of history here. This set of 10 vintage Arizona highways magazines date between the 1960's and 1980's. Wonderful photographs, history, and nostalgia to be found. Enough stories and info about Arizona and the southwest to become an expert. The dates and issues are pictured. The collection was well cared for so each magazine is complete. The magazines have a huge scope of subjects and themes that is too large to list here, this collection has it all. These magazines were not sorted or searched so rare issues or issues with increased value have been left in the bunch. Many are in mint condition. Some have amazingly brilliant covers and show no wear. A few have more typical wear, like the cover is worn or one is dirty. Most are surprisingly nice and rival any we've seen elsewhere on the internet. There were hundreds of magazines stored in boxes and Fransisco, a hardworking 10 yr old, divided them up into sets of ten, dates mixed. These sets sell for about $40 to $60 elsewhere on the internet. We're pricing to sell at $25.

Arizona Highways Magazine started in April 1925 and is actually a division of the Arizona Department of Transportation. At that time, many states took to advertising their paved and drivable roadways for the vast numbers of new automobile owners. They took to photographing and documenting the many wonders of Arizona's Nature, People, and History. They even included articles featuring roadways under construction, so people could see all the new places they could soon explore. Many states published this sort of magazine but no other has become as successful and widely distributed as Arizona Highways. The demand for things old western and cowboy in the 40's and 50's helped the magazine gain popularity throughout the country. It quickly became famous for its amazing collection of photography in every issue. In Dec. 1946 they published the first entirely color edition, though it would still be another 30 years before that would become the standard. Simple, clear, it easily drew people into the beauty of Arizona. The success of this publication is in part responsible for the huge migration of Americans to Arizona which continues today.
