Apache Indian Bone Bead Turquoise Cabochon Sterling Silver Bear Paw Choker Necklace by Verna and Berlinda  0050-253127-BC

Apache Indian Bone Bead Turquoise Cabochon Sterling Silver Bear Paw Choker Necklace by Verna and Berlinda.

This bone choker has a distinctive Native American Apache Indian design and is hand made with pipe bone. The hand etched bone plates frame a Sterling Silver shadow box bear paw with a Turquoise cabochon. A true collector's item, this choker will match perfectly with any other Apache style jewelry you already own. The cool green and brown colors of the turquoise compliment the bone very nicely. This choker is 1-1/8" wide, and 20" long. This was made by Berlinda and Verna in our shop.

Turquoise has been used for personal adornment in many countries all over the world. Among those who have worn it are the Persians, Tibetans, Greeks, Romans, Aztecs, Incas and of course the Native Americans of our own Southwest, who have been mining and wearing it since the time of Christ. Turquoise has decorated the thrones of Kings, been inlaid in the crowns of royalty and appeared in the crown jewels of many countries. During the 15th century the Queen of France gave a gold ring set with Turquoise to King James IV of Scotland as a pledge of friendship. When Queen Elizabeth of England was married, her gift from the President of Mexico was an exact replica of a prehistoric Nahuate (Aztec) brooch of gold inlaid with Turquoise.

Man, from the earliest times, has considered the adornment of his person to be as necessary as food and shelter. The Indians of the Southwest are no exception. They have loved fine jewelry, esteemed it as wealth, and worn it profusely. Today the use of Indian jewelry has spread far beyond its original boundaries and its appreciation has become world-wide.
We understand the true value and nature of hand crafted Indian art. And, we recognize it's important to know that the artist is truly a member of a Native American tribe. So, to ensure you that this is the real deal, a Certificate of Authenticity has been included with this item.
