The handle is covered with genuine leather. It has a plated Gold guard and pommel. And, this sabre has a steel scabbard. The total length of this one is 26-1/2". It is labeled CS. This sabre is a replica of years gone by. July 1st to July 3rd in 1863 were some of the most important days in American History. Those were the three days of the Battle of Gettysburg. Approximately 51,000 Union and Confederate troops met their demise in what became one of the most important battles in the American Civil War. The Union victory in Gettysburg gave the North the upper hand for rest of the entire war. Then on November 19, 1863 President Lincoln delivered a two minute speech at Gettysburg that received some harsh criticism at first but later gained great fame for the phrase, "of the People, by the People, for the People". |
